Hirudin & Co. was founded on a powerful conviction: that some of nature's most effective therapeutic compounds have been right in front of us for centuries — they simply needed modern science to validate what traditional medicine already knew.
Hirudin, the bioactive enzyme derived from medicinal leeches, has been used therapeutically for over 2,000 years. From ancient Egyptian medicine to European clinical practice, its anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory properties have been documented across cultures and centuries.
What was missing was rigorous, independently verified, modern clinical evidence — and that is exactly what we set out to create.
